View Article  Moving in Progress - Delays and Problems
Well we are finally physically moving in to the new premises over the next few days.

We dont have broadband access yet but that should be up at the start of next week after which post should get back to normal fairly quickly.

Similarly Jed will start casting again and aims to bring all the resin stocks back up to good levels within a week or so, with the exception of models that are undergoing re-moulds such as the Merkava Grav Tank.

NB - we're having broadband issues atm and also problems connecting to our ordering system, so please bear with us as your email notifications of dispatch and so forth may be delayed. Post is also running 1-3 days behind schedule at the moment.
View Article  Post and Casting Delays - Moving Time!

We have finally gotten the keys to our new (small) Industrial Unit and are in the process of stripping it out and building it back up into a proper Scenery Store.

This does mean that Jed will be extremely busy doing that work and getting the new new products on to the online store for the next few weeks.

Most importantly he will be unable to do much casting (if any) during the next 2 weeks or so, this may mean that some items go out of stock for a short while so please bear with us as I'm sure you will understand that there is only so much two people can do in a day!

Similarly both Jed and myself will be busy with various associated work which will mean that there may be some delays in getting Post out to customers.

Current post days (days we send out post) are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but this may go down to Mondays and Thursdays for the next 3-4 weeks as we try to get the new store up and running as soon as possible.

What this means for the customer is that your orders will be processed slower than usual until the majority of the move is completed. After the end of the move we will be adding the full Woodland Scenics range, Infinity figures from Corvus Belli, K&S Metal, Evergreen Plastics, Wood (various), ESLO and Ziterdes Scenery and various other products - around about two thousand five hundred new items in fact.

And once that is done we anticipate getting back to normal service times very quickly.

Obviously this is a very big move for us and we want to ensure that we get things done properly so that as well as the ever-growing online store we will then have a physical store for people to visit with one of the best collections of wargames scenery materials in the UK.

View Article  Did anybody say Silflor?
We've done it!

After a mammoth struggle, after crossing many borders, from Germany to Spain to Chile to England - and all to bypass the ridiculous over-priced strangle hold of the UK distributor.....finally, at long, long last...we've got Silflor back in stock.

But, not just the old packs - we've gone a little bit better this time and have a total of 66 (Sixty Six) silflor products now on the shopping cart.

The highlights of these are the loose grasses (all the colours and lengths in huge 50g packs),

 SMALL packs:

these are 15cmx8cm strips that are only £2.75p-£3.00 and allow you to buy multiple colours and lengths without breaking the bank.... then we've got the Silflor Strips (full packs and Small packs)

and, finally we have two monster Sample packs:

The first has 4 sheets of 6mm grass in all four colours (spring, Summer, Early Autumn and Late Autumn) that is priced at £15.84p saving you £4.16p over *you know where*.. but the bumper MEGA DEAL pack is this little beauty:

4mm Two Springr grass, Tufts in Spring, Summer Early Autumn and Late Autumn PLUS Sprng, Summer Early Autumn and Late Autumn in 4mm two colour Strips.

Now that little package would set you back £40.00 *on some other websites" but here? Well we've gone price mad and you can save a whopping £16.60p and get all that for just £23.40p!
View Article  Weapons Lockers now Available
Our Sci-fi Weapons Lockers are now available here:

There is also a fifth pack the "Four Pack" which contains one of each type of locker and costs £4.50p

(Weapons originally by and Copyright of Hasslefree Miniatures. Figure by Hasslefree Miniatures {Debra} and shown for scale only, figure not included in any pack)
View Article  Walls for 10/15mm
We've added some of the Javis range of walling to the 15mm section by request.

There are two types of solid wall "Dry Stone Walling" and "Rough Dry Stone Walling". The difference between the two being that the Rough version is slightly worn down with varying heights and missing blocks.

Rough Dry Stone Wall
Dry Stone Wall

The wall sections are 150mm long Approx~ 17mm tall, 10mm wide at base (Rough version has a lower height varying from about 13mm to 17mm tall)

The sections dont need to be painted as they are pre-coloured, but a quick dry-brush improves them tremendously.

There is also a strip of flexible "stone" material which you can use to form into any shape, is approximately 4 foot long and about 10/11mm tall - this is very cheap and is useful for filling in complex shape areas with a low stone wall. It's rather cheap & cheerful but its hard to go wrong for £1.25p.
View Article  New Sheet Materials
We have added some clear sheets that are ideal for making clear or coloured windows for modern or sci-fi buildings.

Clear Coloured PVC in .005 or .010 thicknesses, in red, green, blue and grey £1.35p each

Some more additions to the "Tools" page here:

Three new colour shapers (clay shapers)
for handling green stuff, Aves and other epoxies/clays. (Angle Chisel, Chisel Cup, Round Cup) £2.99p each

Staedler Lumocolor Permanent Pens 0.4mm
- these are superb for marking on styrene and other plastics (We use them all the time) £1.30p

A 12 inch Flexible Cork-Backed Steel Rule - the cork stops it slipping on smooth surfaces such as plastics. £3.50p

Tamiya Finishing Abrasive sets
- excellent sets of "sandpaper" (actually wet capable abrasive sheets) which come in some very useful Grit combinations: Medium 120, 240 320 - Fine 400,600, 1000 and Ultra Fine 1200, 1500, 2000.

Prices £1.75p, £1.75p and £1.99p.

Tamiya Plastic Scriber
 - A well made Scriber for "cutting" and scribing plastic - a scriber is much better for score'n'snap cutting of plastic sheets such as styrene. The scriber wont leave a raised edge and makes the snapping line much more exact and clean than a knife will. A very worthwhile investment if you use plastics a lot.

View Article  New Embossed sheets - SBP Updated
We have added 11 new stamped/embossed styrene sheets to the site.
These are actually vacuum-formed styrene so that they have a slightly more pronounced "depth" to the detail from the usual styrene sheets. They are also of a larger size (14x9) which makes them ideal for larger projects.

Each sheet costs £2.95p and we have taken a number of sheets from different (railway) scales which complement various wargames scales: we've then photographed them against a 30mm, 15mm and 25mm figure to give a more exact idea of size and appearance.

You can find the new sheets here.

Please note that we have also made some changes to the Scratch-Builders paradise pages and you may want to force-refresh your browsers (ctrl-F5) to ensure that you have the latest pages.

View Article  Crates, buckets, barrels, doors and windows
We've uploaded the first sets of the Fantasy & Historical scenery section (for 25mm - 32mm) now, which can be found here:

To start with we have five sets of Hirst-Arts items, then the start of our own selection including leaded windows, bay windows, doors and so forth. Double-sided metal-cast windows will be added shortly along with an expanding range of windows and doors as well as other scenic components.

All resin items are pressure-cast as usually which ensures that the very finest detail is picked out during casting - this enables us to produce the extreme detail such as the leading in the leaded windows, reliably and without flaws or air bubbles.

Most pieces are drop-cast and as such you may need to sand flat the bottom/back of doors and windows etc.

Packs start around £3.00
View Article  Aves now in stock
We have added a larger range of Aves products to the store which can be found here.

These include 4 colours of the excellent Aves Apoxie Sculpt in the 1lb and 1/4lb sizes, the Aves Paste and the safety solvent.  Prices range from £3.00 to £12.99.

Aves Apoxie is a synthetic clay which acts very similar to green stuff/brown stuff and other epoxies such as magic Sculpt. Aves can be smoothed with water, drilled and wills and without clogging up sandpaper and it is an excellent material for making models and scenery/terrain.

Aves is extremely well known in the USA but is fairly new to the UK; its well worth trying it out though for making anything from sci-fi models to sandbags to zimmerit.

We have added the entire range of individual paints from the Vallejo Panzer Aces range.

"A color system designed in collaboration with Panzer Aces Magazine for reproducing the colors of the uniforms of tank-crews and general armed forces in WWII.

In order to simplify the method of painting the uniforms of the crew of military vehicles in the Second World War, the specialists on the staff of Panzer Aces Magazine have created a series of colours which coincide with the standard shades of these uniforms.

All uniforms consist of a base and a lighter color for highlighting and grading. Three colors have been selected for the fleshtones, as well as a series of colors to reproduce the design of Splinter Camouflage, printed on many of the garments and canvas equipment of the German Army".

Many of the colours are ideal for non-uniform options, especially the rusts, muds, rubbers and woods.

Highly recommended paints and colours RRP is £1.80p our price only £1.62p

So please bear with us and any problems finding stuff on the website for the next week - if you do find dead pages or dead links then please email us - we may know about it and be fixing it, but equally so we may have forgotten to put something back up!

View Article  Postal Price Changes
Some major updates that customers should be aware of:

First off we have sadly had to change all UK postal services to Recorded Signed For. This means an additional 72pence for all UK mainland deliveries including both 1st Class and 2nd Class packages.
The reasons for this are specifically down to the increasing number of Paypal Scams that we have been encountering within the UK (Customers claiming a non-delivery and having Paypal reverse the payment.)

The rate of 'missing parcels' for Paypal customers was seven times higher than that for non-Paypal customers, clearly given that everything goes via the same service (Royal Mail) the chances of this being anything other than a deliberate scam by Paypal customers was extremely remote indeed.

Whilst we understand that such scams are only perpetrated by a minority of Paypal users it has still meant losses to us of hundreds of pounds a year which has meant that we can no longer afford to keep using Paypal as a payment system without making some changes.

Therefore as we are not covered by Paypal's Seller protection Policy unless we use a recorded service, then we have been forced to adopt the Recorded Signed For service for all of our UK mail and International Signed-For and Airsure only for International Mail.

Secondly we are bringing our postage prices in line with the current Royal Mail prices, this will mean a small increase in the postage prices within the UK (and later Global prices). For the last few months we have been running the postage at a loss but have to now bring them up too date.

Similarly all International mail now has to be sent by a Signed-For service; either International Signed-For or Airsure and standard Airmail and Surface Mail have had to be withdrawn as viable services. In the meantime the actual cost of International Signed-For has gone down slightly.

We were loathe to make these changes, as any increase in postal prices obviously impacts our sales, however over 90% of our customers use Paypal to buy their items and removing paypal as a payment option was clearly not something that we could do.

We do understand that this means that a minority of unscrupulous Paypal customers have made this necessary and that the overwhelming majority of customers are entirely legitimate. it is worth pointing out that the UK Royal Mail service is extremely efficient and reliable: in an average month we send out around 50 packages within the UK to people who have paid by Credit Card or other non-paypal methods and of those the average loss, or non-delivery, is just one package a month (at the most).

In the same time though we can see 6 or 7 Paypals claims of non-delivery from the remaining 450 packages: seven times the failure rate. When these orders are often in the £50 -£100 region it becomes obvious that we simply cannot afford to let the situation continue.

We are looking at alternative means of delivery within the UK and Europe and hope to be able to find cheaper traceable or signed-for services sometime in the near future.

In the mean time please remember that if you receive a parcel that you think you have been charged too much for then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us - the postal pricing system is fully automated and cannot be checked on every package to ensure that it is doing its job correctly - if you have been over charged then let us know ASAP and we look into it with the aim of refunding any excess postal charges that are not correct.
View Article  New Stuff! Wire & Thread.
We've added a small new section to the Scratch Builders Paradise section: "Wire and Thread".

This is a collection of Lead Wire 0.2mm to 1.0mm thickness, copper wire (0.3mm and 0.5mm) and rigging thread (0.2mm, 0.5mm, 0.8mm and 1.2mm).

There's also some extremely realistic stainless steel Towing Cable in thicknesses of 0.6 to 1.2mm.

and lets not forget the Rigging Thread in 4 thicknesses!

Put together you should be able to find  one way or another of using these for all your needs for rope, hawser, towing cables and the like. Remember that the Rigging Thread makes for superb rope at many scales due to the way it is wound, and by colouring it with a thinned metallic paint you end up with excellent and very cheap "steel able".

Lead and Copper wire are the easiest way to add lots of detail parts, inside engine or outside of sci-fi buildings, fantastical pulp engines and anything else you can think of!

We will soon be adding a tutorial on making various "cables" from the historical through to 41st century, keep an eye out here for further announcements.

View Article  Silflor Grass Tufts are here
We are very happy to announce that we know have the Silflor Grass Tufts in stock.

Silflor tufts have taken the modelling world by storm over the last 5 years and are now widely recognised as one of the best scenic materials manufacturers in the world. One of their most popular products is pre-made tufts of grass in various lengths and colours from 2mm tufts to 6mm tufts.

2mm, 4mm and 6mm tufts shown against a 15mm figure.

The tufts allow the modeller to rapidly make figures bases, dioramas or open area models with realistic grass tufts in a matter of moments - simply pull off the tuft from the backing material and glue it in place - it is that simple.

For modellers in the UK getting hold of Silflor has always been a problem due to a virtual monopoly. As a result of this Silflor prices in the UK have been artificially inflated to the equivalent of £18.00-£20.00 for a full size sheet. Not only that but the Silflor has been cut down into smaller sections and transported without the proper semi-rigid box packaging meaning that the tufts often end up crushed and flattened.

Well no longer is that the case: we sell FULL sheet sizes in the original boxed packaging, so as well as being able to save up to 30% of the price on Silflor in the UK you also get proper packaging to protect your tufts in the mail.

A full size sheet of Silflor gives you hundreds of tufts.

Semi-rigid box packaging helps prevent damage in transit:

Our prices start at £12.60, a massive £5.40 saving and go up to £15.84 which still represents a saving of £4.16p.

So if you want Silflor you know where to come...but grab it while you can as stocks are limited and re-supply is, sadly, not guarenteed.

Sin Industries is a subsidiary of the famous Mig Productions and its first products are Filter Sets for varieties of WWII armour - At the moment three sets exist: Afrika Korp, Allied and German.
